the feeling with each and every day as republicans move closer and closer to the obama position, that they are too afraid to go over the clip. they are too willing to make a deal, any deal, no matter how bad that might be. that's the danger. and there's a feeling out there these days in terms of the body language and the posture of the republican leadership, that's the direction they are headed. they look like they are atrade. they look like they want to deal and if they don't get one, the world is going to come crashing down on them. that's the mind-set that needs to change. so if boehner and company need to do are the following. one, they need to understand the game that obama is playing and they need to adjust accordingly to it. if obama is acting a way that isn't to help the economy but to destroy the republican party, they have to accept that and act wisely. it would be suicidable to assume you are dealing with a reasonable and flexible man what you are not. and two, house republicans need to advance legislation that needs to advance their agenda and send it to the senate.

republicans called their bill to repeal obama care? i do. it was an act to repeal the job killing health care law. now, the whole job killing thing has always been a bit of a talking point myth. a nonpartisan study of the very similar health insurance mandate enacted six years in massachusetts showed, quote, no evidence of reduced employment as a result of health reform there. still, that argument, the whole job killing obama care thing, sent the owner of red lobster and a bunch of other very carb friendly restaurant chains on a hapless misadventure in corporate protest that culminated today in a public and embarrassing and informative way. back in october, company called darden restaurants announced they were putting more workers on part-time status in stead of full-time to see if they would be able to limit the cost of complying with the new health reform law. under the new law, big companies like darden have to either offer health insurance or pay a $2,000 fine for each full-time employee. over 30 employees who ends up using public subsidies to buy health care. you catch those words there,

, this desire for compromise. both sides, republican, democrat, independent, those who voted for obama, those who voted for governor romney, want to see compromise. what they define as an acceptable compromise is very different, but this notion that they want to see their leadership working together is something that is a strong point of view that is held right now, and that creates obviously opportunity to treaties. trades complicated waters to navigate. the single highest priority on the to the list is the budget deficit and debt. people talk about this being a problem that they want to see addressed. they are concerned about how that creates an economic environment that puts them at risk. they immediately move -- if that is table stakes in such terms of taking care of the basis of issues -- in a move to things that have much more meaning to them that focus around jobs, wage growth, getting more disposable income into their household. you'd see on one level at the abstract level, debt, deficits, fiscal cliff, and then a transition into the to do list, which is where they would like to see e
